CrownsA crown completely covers a tooth to conceal damage, discolouration or decay. Crowns can also be used to support a dental bridge or be attached to a dental implant to replace missing teeth.
How they help
- Improve the appearance of a tooth
- A natural-looking restoration
- A long-lasting solution
- Firmly positioned
How they workWe numb the area to be treated and carefully shape the tooth so the crown will fit neatly and securely in place. We then take an impression and send this to a laboratory where your crown will be crafted. A temporary crown will be slotted over the prepared tooth to protect it while you wait for your custom-made version. When ready, and once your dentist (and you) are satisfied with how it fits in with your natural teeth, the new crown will be cemented to the prepared tooth. We use e.max all-ceramic crowns as they blend durability with an attractive translucent appearance that mimics the look of natural teeth.
How to look after them
- Keep them clean – regular brushing and flossing will help your crown to last longer and ensure the underlying tooth structure remains healthy.
- Keep attending check-ups and hygiene appointments – so we can regularly assess the condition of your crown and the tooth underneath.
